A hotel and conference center development could be in the works on land Northwestern Mutual controls south of the Ikea store in Oak Creek.

Oak Creek’s Common Council on Tuesday will consider a development agreement with an affiliate of Wisconsin Dells hotel operator Stand Rock Hospitality for that land. Separately, city officials have studied the potential for a new conference center on a portion of the vacant property between Drexel Avenue and the Ikea store.

A source familiar with the discussions confirmed an event center would be part of the newest proposal....
