Wisconsin home sales decline as coronavirus adds to strain on inventory of houses on the market


Buyers already struggling to find affordable homes in Wisconsin found their options dwindle in May as the coronavirus pandemic caused a steep decline in sales and new listings.

The result: Compared with May 2019, sales were down 25.8%, the median purchase price rose 6% to $214,000 and the inventory of starter homes in the $125,000 to $199,000 price range dropped to less than three months — meaning that`s how long it would take to be sold out at the current pace.

Ken Notes:I am getting mixed messages here there is demand so this should rebound quickly. We have unfortunately widened the gap between the haves and have nots. We need affordable product for our service and retail workers and it is not there.
