In virtual CARW panel, Milwaukee-area food hall developers say there`s opportunity for more


Developers behind some of the Milwaukee area’s food halls say they see room for more in the region.

Generally, food halls offer consumers a model similar to a cafeteria or food court, but they are driven by local concepts. The exact definition varies; arguably, the Milwaukee Public Market and the Sherman Phoenix fall within the food hall category.

Speaking during a virtual Wisconsin Retail Conference panel hosted by the Commercial Association of Realtors Wisconsin, two local developers who have created food halls addressed the opportunity in the market. Cindy Shaffer’s firm Shaffer Development created the Mequon Public Market as an amenity for its Spur 16 development. The market opened in June 2019 and houses 10 vendors...
