Will pandemic unemployment numbers force higher taxes on Wisconsin businesses?

HOWARD, Wis. (WLUK) -- In the beginning of the pandemic, phones for unemployment were ringing off the hook.

In Howard, Caleb Suda owns the Iron Duck Restaurant. It was open for two months before the pandemic hit.

“From our first quarter to our second quarter, so right as the second quarter had started is when the pandemic really came in full force and everything got shut down, we saw a 75% decrease in revenue," Suda said.

His expenses haven’t gone away.

“You’ve got sales tax, unemployment insurance taxes, workers comp, property taxes," Suda said...
