A six-story, 79-unit apartment building is planned for a former tannery complex in Walker`s Point.

Construction is to begin in July on the building, developer Peter Moede Jr. said Tuesday. It will take about 14 months to complete.

The building will be the final phase of River Place Lofts, 625 W. Freshwater Way.

River Place Lofts is just west of South Sixth Street, overlooking the Menomonee River Canal, about one block north of West Virginia Street.

It features three former Pfister & Vogel Tannery buildings that were converted into apartments: the five-story, 63-unit, Beam House, completed in 2015; the six-story, 39-unit Dock House, which opened in 2018, and five-story, 28-unit Finishing House, which opened in 2019.
