Measure is part of fast-tracked batch of GOP bills targeting shortage of housing in the stateA Wisconsin lawmaker is proposing legislation that would authorize the state to establish local campsites for homeless people and criminalize camping on other public land. ...moreCoupled with that, the legislation would also require the state to allocate $300,000 in federal pandemic relief money to pay for more local “housing navigators” to help homeless people find housing. The legislation, AB-604, would also impose a “pay for performance” provision on state grants distributed by the state Department of Administration (DOA) to address homelessness.... Ken Notes: Why not encourage communities to develop neighborhoods that allow tiny or small homes to be built on small footprints with some shared amenities. Like new upscale developments in other states, we could mix homeless with urban tourists and retail and service workers in ultra affordable communities. This is Wisconsin, tents are a dumb idea for living yet we turn a blind eye to what works now, worked in the past and could solve many problems overnight. I will mention this one more time, we hare happy to allow others to serve us yet we will not allow them to live near us in housing they can afford. We integrated our schools in the 50`s and 60`s now it is time to economically integrate our neighborhoods. | ||
