WEDC board to revisit policy on job outsourcing reports


Companies that get public assistance and then cut or relocate jobs outside the state would be subject to stricter reporting requirements under a proposal to be discussed Tuesday by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. board.

The proposal from Rep. Peter Barca, D-Kenosha, expands on a policy adopted two years ago when the agency came under fire for giving out awards to companies that later sent jobs to other countries. A Wisconsin State Journal review at the time found at least 10 cases over the previous decade of companies receiving a state award and then later sending jobs abroad.
