![]() MADISON - Wisconsin`s flagship jobs agency continues to double-count some jobs in its online data and tout others from firms no longer operating in the state, although it has improved its financial controls, a new audit has found. The new Legislative Audit Bureau report released
Wednesday by the nonpartisan Legislative Audit Bureau recommended that
the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. get more reliable data on how
many jobs are being created or retained by the state`s tens of millions
of dollars in taxpayer-funded awards to businesses. Separately Wednesday, WEDC officials said they are gradually
addressing millions of dollars in tax credit errors in which some
companies were overpaid and others underpaid in recent years.... Ken Notes: They did find improvements made elsewhere but the money remains an issue. I did suggest a tax credit based on jobs might be easier than the systems in place. If the jobs go away so do the incentives, you can`t miscount without double paying income tax for your employees. The dollars are about the same. | ||
