Rowe Pottery wins state grant for renovation of new site


Rowe Pottery Works has won state financial support to renovate a historic Main Street building for its new headquarters.

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) has awarded Rowe Pottery a grant that will reimburse the company for one-quarter of the cost of work being done on the building at 110 E. Main Street. Rowe Pottery owner Beverly Semmann declined to reveal the total amount of the grant, but said it was sizeable.

Semmann said the village of Cambridge applied for the grant on the company’s behalf. She said WEDC’s requirements included that the project not just benefit Rowe Pottery, but also that it has the potential to bring significant economic benefit to the broader downtown. Specifically, she said, WEDC is interested in funding projects that draw visitors to a community and give them a reason to linger at restaurants and other shops, too...
