The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) has taken an interest in Deerfield’s downtown. Deerfield Chamber of Commerce Chair Leah Fritsche told the Village Board Monday night that the state agency contacted the chamber recently, after seeing a series of January articles in the Deerfield Independent about the community’s industrial park and downtown. Fritsche said chamber representatives met with Jason Scott and Melissa Hunt, WEDC regional directors for Dane County, last week. Hunt and Scott provided the chamber with a great deal of information that it is now distilling, Fritsche said. “The point is, number one, that there is lots of help for us. Number two, they want to help us get something put together that will move us forward,” Fritsche said.
