Campaign touts job opportunities in Wis.


UW-Eau Claire grad highlighted in marketing video aimed at state alumni

...Farina’s story — both his professional success and personal love for family and the state’s many outdoor recreational opportunities — is why WEDC chose him to be the focus of one of nine videos highlighting young people who have studied in Wisconsin and landed their dream jobs in the state. The national marketing campaign includes social media ads on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn that link to the videos.

Alumni who have moved away from Wisconsin likely could bring their experience back to Wisconsin, find a comparable job, make their income go further and find greater life/?work integration, said Farina, an avid boater, wakeboarder and snowboarder who lives in the Madison area.

The impetus for the marketing campaign was the state’s labor shortage that is making it increasingly difficult for Wisconsin employers to find enough workers to fill all of their job openings, said Tricia Braun, deputy secretary and chief operating officer of WEDC. Agency leaders determined one of the best ways to get more workers would be to lure individuals with an educational connection back to Wisconsin....

Ken Notes: I still wish the focus was on actual programs to encourage to stay / return to the state rather than advertising. I like tax credits for interest on tuition loans and a tax credit for new hires for all businesses.
