City financing sought for new Glendale office building for Johnson Controls. Meanwhile, the JCI foundation agreed to help fund a city park.


The Johnson Controls Foundation is reviewing plans to renew its commitment to help fund a Glendale park — at around the same time a developer is pursuing city financing help for a new office building for the company.

But the process of obtaining that renewed park funding began before the the Johnson Controls office development was presented to city officials, said Mayor Bryan Kennedy.

"Payments toward the park recommenced in spring 2021 before any discussion of an expansion of the JCI campus," Kennedy told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The Glendale Community Development Authority on April 20 recommended approval for a tax incremental financing district for 6.4 acres east of North Green Bay Avenue and south of West Civic Drive...
