SPOONER – Housing continues to be in a dire situation across the United States, and it is no different in Washburn County.County Housing Authority Executive Director Eva Johnston said that though COVID-19 drove a lot of residents out of the area to be closer to family, or over concern with health issues, there is still a lack of affordable housing here.
The Housing Authority manages 151 units in the county through three different programs. The units are for those on subsidized or fixed income, elderly and disabled persons.
