![]() With inflation at its highest rate in the United States since the early 1980s, including Milwaukee area gas prices that briefly soared above $5 a gallon but later fell to below $3 a gallon, and declines in U.S. GDP during the first half of the year, ongoing supply chain challenges and a tight labor market, there were plenty of economic issues to be concerned about in 2022. During the year many felt the U.S. economy was either in a recession, or headed toward one in 2023. But despite those challenges, and others, there were several bright spots in the local economic landscape this year.
