![]() The 4 opponents plan to gain a majority of the village board this springLocal opponents of Mount Pleasant`s Foxconn project are looking to change the direction of the community`s village government. The local watchdog group A Better Mount Pleasant has been lobbying against spending related to the development for years. Now the group is running a slate of candidates, hoping to create a majority on the village board, while unseating Village President Dave DeGroot, who has been a vocal supporter of Foxconn... Ken Notes: This is scary scary scary! Foxconn is paying it`s bills based on a revised development agreement. If given an excuse to fold up their tent and go home they just might and Mount Pleasant will still have bills to pay now without a revenue stream. I AM NOT an advocate for Foxconn but the deal was better structured than others in the past with with poor or no development agreements that went south. We need to have a training program for elected officials so they understand how TIF actually works. Off the record we need to have a training program for many of our senators and assembly reps on how TIF works. | ||
