Milwaukee trying to take ownership of Northridge Mall through lawsuit over demolition order


The city of Milwaukee for the first time is attempting to take ownership of the former Northridge Mall through the ongoing court dispute with its owner over a 2019 demolition order.

In a motion filed in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Tuesday, Milwaukee’s attorneys asked Judge William Sosnay to transfer ownership of the long-vacant mall to the city. That transfer would let the city seek funding sources that have “deadlines for shovels in the ground” in order to tear down the vacant mall building, according to the court motion.
