Wisconsin DNR weighing approval of controversial development on Eagle River chain


EAGLE RIVER, Wis. (WJFW) - A potential major development along the Eagle River chain is currently being reviewed by the Wisconsin DNR. Kansas City-based developer The Delmark Group hopes to transform the Lake Forest Golf Course into a vast condominium complex. It would also include 18 permanent piers along the Eagle River Chain that connects Eagle and Voyageur Lakes that could house up to 34 boats.

DNR Water Management Specialist, Nicole Hays, said the project has area residents concerned about potential issues the new piers would cause.

“Residents had concerns with boater safety,” said Hays. “Is there going to be an increase in traffic? Is there going to be navigational issues going through that channel. There were, you know, concerns of course of the resource like, what is this going to do to the fishery habitat?”...
