MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Amid the ongoing negotiations over a bill providing $546 million in taxpayer money to renovate American Family Field is the question of to what extent a final deal should include the redevelopment of land currently used for parking lots outside the stadium.The president of the state`s leading commercial real estate group questioned whether developers would see a robust market for new apartments, retail space and offices in a new `Beer District.`...
...Both city and county leaders have pushed for the conversion of some current parking lot space into new developments, which could then provide new sales and property tax revenue streams....
Ken Notes: The Deer District was brilliant but AmFam Park is not downtown, Building structured parking is pricey, and you need people density 365 to make it work. Plus tailgating is a big part of the attraction for baseball not so much for basketball... Oh and for the record a lone shopping cart would not be around long enough for someone to take a picture of it downtown!
