Gov. Evers, WEDC request over $7M to establish Tech Hub in Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. (WSAW) - Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation have submitted a request to the Republican-controlled Joint Finance Committee requesting the release of $7.5 million to BioForward Inc. to establish the state’s U.S. Regional Tech Hub.

The money was approved as part of 2023 Wisconsin Act 96 which was signed by Gov. Evers in February. Now, he and WEDC are requesting the release of the $7.5 million to BioForward Inc., which leads the Wisconsin Biohealth Tech Hub Consortium, to establish the state’s Tech Hub and grow its personalized medicine and biohealth technology sector.

That growth includes expanding lab space, increasing coordination and collaboration across the industry, boosting the supply chain, and developing apprenticeship programs to bolster the industry’s workforce..

Ken Notes: I have to agree with the Governor here. As a fiscal conservative I believe tax spending should have some ROI. In this case we are leveraging 7.5 million against 49 million, federal recognition, thousands of jobs, and 9 billion in economic development. We need to put partisanship aside for a minute and do what is right for the state. And Governor, you should find some Republicans that will support this effort and bring them to the table with you. Also why is WMC putting politics ahead of their role as business advocates in Wisconsin???
