Art House 360 receives $250K state grant for renovations

The historic former New Century School building, which has stood vacant for the past three years, is another step closer to welcoming its newest tenant: the nonprofit organization Art House 360.  

On Tuesday, July 2, Art House 360 announced that, in partnership with the City of Verona, it will receive a $250,000 state grant to help fund the restoration and renovation of the West Verona Avenue building. 

According to an Art House 360 press release, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) selected the nonprofit as a recipient of its Community Development Investment Grant. This money will support the reinvention of the former school site into Art House 360, a community hub for artistic expression and cultural exchange. 

The City of Verona has also committed $750,000 in TIF funding for basic improvements at the 1917 building, a landmark that appeared to be deteriorating. ..

Ken Notes: A very cool project, but with Verona`s tax base and almost no affordable family housing available I would like to see some priorities guiding these investments. Just a thought...
