La Crosse County board considers major housing development in West Salem

WEST SALEM, Wis. (WXOW) - La Crosse County is currently exploring options on what to do with a chunk of land in west Salem.

One of the plans under consideration is to turn that land into a major housing development project.

Back in the late 1800s La Crosse county purchased over 500 acres of farm land on the east side of West Salem near Lake Neshonoc.

Over the years the county has developed some of that land into what is now the West Salem School District, the Lakeview assisted living center, as well as a 160 acre business park which has created approximately 205 jobs and houses 10 businesses...
