Regulators urge scaling back solar project due to concerns over prairie-chickens


An environmental review recommends a solar developer scale back its plans for the roughly $2 billion Vista Sands Solar project in Portage County to protect Wisconsin’s greater prairie-chicken population.

Vista Sands Solar, LLC, an affiliate of Doral Renewables, wants to build a solar facility that would produce around 1,300 megawatts of power with around 300 megawatts of battery storage.
