Is the US finally getting ‘all aboard’ with electric trains?

Two new electric trains in California could be a sign that the notoriously laggard US is finally ready to catch up to the rest of the world.

Ken Notes: This is sour grapes and me lamenting that once upon a time Tommy Thompson and a band of crazy misfits (and yes I was one of them) put together a real plan that would have put Wisconsin on the Global map. A new high speed rail corridor from Chicago to Madison and beyond using beautiful Talgo trains actually once located here in Wisconsin (now operational in Nigeria) was more more than a dream it was a reality --- almost. We sent the $823 million federal grant back and paid $59 million to Talgo and allowed the manufacturer to maintain ownership of the equipment. Am I bitter -- well actually yes - just a bit. Tommy had a vision, we had a plan, the pieces were in place and politicians and radio personalities who were not aware of what we had paid millions to throw it all away.
