Gov. Evers, WHEDA announces new programs to restore older homes across WI


MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Gov. Tony Evers along with the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority announced on Wednesday a new program to help repair and renew older homes across the state.

The More Like Home™ Repair and Renew Loan program will offer low-interest loans between $5,000 and $50,000 to owners of houses more than 40 years old. Officials said homeowners can use the money toward important house repairs like roofing, plumbing and heating.

Gov. Evers said having stable housing plays a crucial role in helping families succeed.

“Expanding access to safe, reliable, affordable housing across Wisconsin is a critical part of our work to address our state’s pressing workforce challenges while also connecting the dots to ensure our kids, workers, and families can be successful and thrive,” said Gov. Evers. “Through this program, we are reinvesting in our older housing stock to stabilize property values and make housing safer, more stable, and more secure for Wisconsinites in every corner of our state.”...
