DNR To Host Free Learning Sessions For Local Governments On Redevelopment


MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced it will host learning sessions on redevelopment of properties known as brownfields. Local government officials and others interested in learning more about brownfield redevelopment in Wisconsin are encouraged to attend.

The sessions are free to attend, and the same content will be covered at each session.

  • Nov. 12: The Innovation Center (1221 Innovation Drive, Whitewater), 10 a.m. – noon
  • Nov. 15: Health and Human Services Building (303 W. Chapel Street, Dodgeville), 11:15 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.
  • Nov. 20: City Hall Community Room (127 S. Sawyer Street, Shawano), 10 a.m. – noon

A brownfield is a property with the potential for redevelopment, but its reuse is complicated by real or perceived contamination in the soil or groundwater. Brownfields can be found in many locations and vary in size, age and past use.
