Construction of a new housing development in Red Cliff is set to begin in the spring. The Giiwedin (North Wind) Community Housing Project consists of two buildings. Each will have eight units, with one- and and two-bedroom apartments available for Red Cliff tribal members, according to a news release. The apartments are expected to be completed in March 2026. “We are thrilled to be moving forward with construction,” said Chairwoman Nicole Boyd in the release. “The tribal council continues to prioritize increasing housing options for our community, and we’re determined to provide our members a legitimate chance of returning to live in their homelands.” The tribal council allocated American Rescue Plan Act funding for the housing development.
