Statewide stakeholder input drives WEDC strategy


Since accepting an appointment as secretary and CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. in October, I have had the opportunity to engage with scores of local and regional economic development partners. These conversations have given me a great perspective on our state's economic challenges and opportunities.

Wisconsin's economy has vastly improved from 2011, when WEDC was formed based upon recommendations made in the report, "Be Bold Wisconsin: The Wisconsin Competitiveness Study." ...

.... We recognize we must engage with communities across Wisconsin to achieve these goals. WEDC's ability to fulfill its mission goes well beyond individual transactions with businesses. It also relies heavily on an extremely capable network of local and regional economic development partners, industry groups and educational institutions....

Ken Notes: This is a MUST READ. To accomplish what he has laid out many of my previous suggestions from as far back as 2012 could be implemented. I do think the current structure could enlist the help of local ED professionals with out a major change by making a simple, relatively small, grant available to the counties and regional EDC`s. In fact less that 2 Million would give every county and regional EDC $25,000.
